The Mission Statement of the Department

The Department is an integral part of the College of Medicine in the pursuit of academic programmes designed for its overall objectives by the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and was created to expose and train students with sound academic knowledge, scientific skills and expertise in the various fields of Medical Biochemistry

Philosophy of the Department

It is the philosophy of the Department to teach Biochemistry with the aim of providing potential medical doctors with a robust knowledge of functional, structural and molecular aspects of Medical Biochemistry as it applies to clinical practice. It is mandatory for medical students to undergo studies and practical training in the Department during the duration of their academic activities in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences.
