Awoyinka Olayinka Anthony a Professor of Medical Biochemistry started his academia career as a young ebullient faculty in year 2000. Hitherto, he has had hands-on experience in cutting-edge researches that involves structural elucidation study with the aid of proteomics (mass spectrometric) and bioinformatics.
Lately his current research effort has been on the Chemo-preventive activities of underutilized local Wild Beans. Through this, our laboratory in College of Medicine, Ekiti State University have been able to determine the potential functional effects of localized natural notable underutilized wild beans as alternative foods rich in dietary fiber, focusing on the possible role of associated Microbiota in the understanding of the mechanisms of action of these underutilized local wild beans in combating metabolic syndrome such as Diabetes Cancer and Hypertension.
Currently as Dean of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (FBMS), College of Medicine, overseeing the running of four Departments- Anatomy, Medical Biochemistry, Nursing Sciences and Physiology for strong, virile and successful programs anchored on the development of highly structured curriculum and well-equipped laboratories for both Medical, Basic Medical Degree Programs.
